I recently scored a gorgeous first pressing of one of my favorite grindcore releases ever, hell, one of my favorite records period. In Disgust - "Reality Choke" 10", which is a modern fucking classic, and if you haven't heard this yet, shame on you and do it immediately.
I've talked about this record endlessly, I never run out of good things to say about it. It's just perfect in every way; the recording is devastatingly heavy, the guitars are absolutely pummeling, the vocals are scary deep, and the groovy breakdowns will flatten your skull into a pancake. Particularly the track "Cali Smile", when that song breaks down, shit gets destroyed.
This is obviously the clear vinyl version of the first press, of which there are 566 copies. The label decided to make the black vinyl variant the rare one, since there are only 100 black first press copies. Pretty curious move.
Comes with a little insert. No lyrics, as usual.
Here's the first and 2nd press together. Obvious differences with the packaging, which is nice.
Worship.

My second favorite modern grind record. Unfuckwithable.
ReplyDeleteDrugged Conscience should finally have the split with SFN in the coming weeks too.
ReplyDeleteAnd they're getting back together if you didn't know.
ReplyDeleteYeah dude, they are back together. I'm gonna be interviewing Matt Gomes soon, possibly the whole band.
ReplyDeleteNiiiceee. So keen for new music.
ReplyDeleteThis is sick, real nice dude.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are interested Forged In Iron (http://consume.forgediniron.ca/album/distro) has put their distro up to order from and it just so happens to include the black version of Reality Choke.
Damn dude being from San Jose, I didn't realize ID was so well known. I have that first pressing but never even seen that second pressing before. Got to track that down! Also, don't know if you're familiar with Hostile Takeover, but they were pre-ID and very similar
