Neocrust 0 - Powerviolence 1

I'm not normally a fan of "compilation" releases, especially when I have all the records where the tracks originally came from. That being said, it is pretty great to have all the songs on one convenient release, and including some unreleased jams is always a nice bonus. Case in point; The Afternoon Gentlemen - "Power Joogle Poggle Violence" 10", transparent blue vinyl, 45 RPM.

Most people should be familiar with this band already. They really broke out of obscurity in 2011 with a slew of excellent releases, including splits with Cyborg and Chiens, which is where a majority of the tracks on here come from. Great, tight, very precise grindviolence with a ton of excellent stop/start riffs and great song writting. Great recordings all around too, this band doesn't fuck around. The unreleased tracks are a great inclusion, gives this release that extra bit of "gotta have it"-ness.

Beautiful art and packaging on this too. Everything is very colorful and tidy.

I believe a couple more splits are in the works, very excited to hear what this band does next.

Booze Gel Hell

This is a split that I was anticipating for quite a while. Two of my current favorite grindcore bands sharing one 7"! That doesn't happen to often, but when it does I'm giddy as fuck! Here's the Suffering Mind/The Afternoon Gentlemen split 7" on clear vinyl, 45 RPM.
500 copies were pressed, all on clear vinyl, and I'm very impressed with the packaging job. I've never seen a cover sleeve like this before; it's a double-sided cover with a "negative image" on the other side. Pretty unique idea, and it comes with a download card and a double sided insert with lyrics.
Four songs from Suffering Mind, and sic from TAG. Not the best stuff from either band by far, but still very good songs. The SM side is very raw and gutter filth sounding, and they do a cover of Assuck's - "World of Confusion". Their last song is probably my favorite on their side. TAG do more straight forward grind this time around, not as many crazy stop-starts. Kick ass stuff all around.
Cool artwork. I'm not a fan of the "negative version" of it though. Good thing it's reversible.
For the people in the USA, you can pick this up at Bullshit Propaganda records, but act fast cause these won't last much longer.

59 Seconds To Kill Them And You

I picked up one of the most recent The Afternoon Gentlemen splits when I ordered the Gadget LP. By far one of the best examples of current grindcore. Every record I have by these guys shreds, and pretty much kills every band they share a split with. Here's The Afternoon Gentlemen/Chiens - split, white vinyl, 45 RPM.

6 rippers from the Gents this time around. Totally solid and fierce grindcore, as usual from them. Tight musicianship, phenomenal songwriting, and more stop-starts riffs than you can shake a stick at. I am in love with the vocals in this band too, they can pull of practically everything; the highest of high pitch screams, growls, pig squeals, power violence barks, you name it. The Chiens side is awesome as well, and definitely a good companion to TAG. I'd say they're definitely more fastcore, which is all fine by me. More stop-start riffs, great drumming, it's a solid 4 tracks effort. They have a 1-sided 12" that I'll probably be picking up sometime.
Great artwork and packaging, filled with all sorts of goodies like a sticker, small poster, and a download card.
I hate glare so much...

I just ordered a new TAG split which I've been looking forward too for quite a while. An update on that later! Enjoy some grindcore done right!
