Crusher

Yes!! I finally got one of my most anticipated reissues of this year! A record that I've been wanting a physical copy of for a couple years now. Here is the To Live a Lie reissue of Magrudergrind's - "Crusher" 10" EP, red vinyl, 45 RPM.

Ignoring all the bullshit and controvery surrounding this records initial Scion release, I honestly think this is one of Magrudergrinds best and strongest releases. The songs are there, the riffs are catchy, the production is great, the mix is punishing, the guest spots are tasteful, etc. I particularly love the rap verse in the 2nd half of "Heaviest Bombing". If you can't get over the whole Scion thing and dismiss this record because of that, you're an idiot. This release has only gotten better and better the more I listen to it.

TLAL did a great job with this reissue. Wisely using the same cover art that graced "Crusher's" first reissue on Bone Brigade. Sturdy cover sleeve, and wonderful red vinyl (limited to 200 copies). It also comes with a poster and a glossy double sided lyric sheet.

There's a lot of detail to take in on this cover. Excellent cut n' paste artwork.

"Graffiti is  my only escape from the misery and pain this ugly world has built up/I wanna spray it down, piece by piece till it's filled up."

Big poster :)

You should know where to get this. Act soon!!

My Latest To Live A Lie Haul

I got my most recent package from TLAL recently. Super happy the store is back open and I'm able to get these hot jams. The Catheter/Massgrave split 10" came to me a bit damaged, but the sleeve is a bit flimsy, so it's just bound to happen.

Records featured:
  • Catheter/Massgrave - split 10"
  • Magrudergrind - "Crusher" 10" (red vinyl /200)
  • Agathocles/Gerbophilia - split 7"
  • Parlamentarisk Sodomi/Laserguys - split 7" (red vinyl #64/500)
  • Tinnitus - "Gehenna" (transparent yellow vinyl)
  • OSK - "Wretched Existence//Bleak Future 2007-2010" CD
  • Suffering Luna - "Blood Filled Bong" cassette (/100)

Violent Poseur Assault

I got two very nice packages in the mail yesterday, all filled with goodies. One of those goodies was a much needed addition to my Magrudergrind collection. Here's the Magrudergrind/Slyvester Staline split 7", red/black splatter vinyl, 33 RPM.
As with all the of records I received, I haven't actually spun this yet, but I have heard it. Good, solid 4-song effort from Magrudergrind, definitely not their best stuff. I kind of get a Hellnation vibe from these songs though, and they do an alright rendition of a The Exploited song. The Sylvester Staline side is nuts, and I'm not sure if I dig it yet. Another listen or two is needed. I'm a big fan of the Spazz cover though.
Good packaging with this record. Glued sleeve, full gloss and color.
I also dig this inner sleeve. I've never seen one like this before, it's very interesting.
Good old early Magrudergrind lyrics.
Definitely not my favorite Magrudergrind release, and it's hard to find this for a reasonable price these days. I lucked out and found mine for 8 bucks. Happy hunting!

Scholastic Death

Here's the other Magrudergrind I got with the "s/t" one. I've also been sitting on a CD version of this for a few years, waiting to find a vinyl replacement that wasn't crazy expensive. Lucky for me, I stumbled upon one for a measly $14 bucks at Vinyl Junkie. OG press (as far as I know), black vinyl, 33 RPM.
Not my favorite Magrudergrind material, but it still kicks tons of ass. More straightforward power-grind songs with more straightforward riffs. Honestly, I think the Shitstorm side is where this record truly shines. Some of the best grindcore I've ever heard! Short songs and simple riffs, but totally memorable and infectious. I get pumped every time I hear their songs. Definitely one of the more underrated grindcore bands going today.
I've always been a fan of John Baizley artwork, and this is one of his more unique pieces. I'm not really sure what's going on in the image. Someones face is deteriorating, and there's what looks like some wings on the side. Who knows.
Robotic Empire released this, but my record seems to have been pressed by Civilisation Records, who I've never heard of. Curious.
Double-sided insert
Again, you can find copies on Discogs, get on that!

Built to Blast

I added two crucial pieces to my Magrudergrind collection recently. One of them was this, a holy grail grindcore album for me. Magrudergrind's -"s/t" album was probably the album that solidified me as a fan of grindcore and powerviolence. And in case you didn't know, the name of this here blog was taken from a song on this album. This is an OG press, black vinyl, 33 RPM.
I bought the CD version when it came out, and I'm super happy to finally own a vinyl copy. It's a very sturdy and tidy package with full colors, a huge poster and a double sided insert. You should all know what this album sounds like by now. Super heavy, super catchy, super awesome grindcore. The production on this is beast, and the samples are hilarious. Plus, the song "Excommunicated" is one of my favorite grind songs ever.
I never knew there was a picture of Quasimodo on the cover until I got this.
Big ass poster
I got this for 10 bucks, and I'm super happy about that. There are copies for sale on discogs. If you haven't gotten this yet, get with it.

Owned!!

Here's another recent and vital addition to the growing Magrudergrind collection; their very first 7" "Owned!!". I don't exactly know which pressing this is, I believe it's the first considering it's a bit of a mispress. Transparent green vinyl, 45 RPM.
Extremely strong material right here, one of the best examples of their early early stuff. Killer hardviolence riffs, great songs, and more of a "hardcore" vocal delivery from Avi. More shouted and not as much Hellnation-y style vocals. Pretty good recording too.
Now again, I do believe this is a first pressing because of the mistake in the pressing. This little letter here says that there is a song missing on the B-side that is listed on the sleeve. It says that you can download the song from a website, and maybe for fun one day I'll go and see if that site still works. It doesn't really bother me that much though, I can find the song on the internet pretty easily. There are a few other color variants of this record too.
Double-sided insert with lyrics.

Low and behold, the missing song :P

A Killer Combo

So, my 2nd Discogs purchase ever came in a few days ago, and I couldn't be happier with how it all went, and now I finally own this sexy piece of vinyl which I've wanted for sooooooo fucking long. "A Killer Combo", the excellent Magrudergrind/Godstomper split 7". First press, black vinyl, 33 & 45 RPM, with a fuck ton of inserts.
I mean it when I said that I've wanted this split for quite some time. Pretty much ever since I got into Magrudergrind(the band who's song this blog is named after). Everything about this 7" is great; the bands, the recordings, the pressing, the artwork, it's all good.
The A side is Godstomper, a band that I like and I should have more of their records, but I digress. Probably the best recording from this band that I've ever heard. Good songs too, but there side is way to short. 3 songs in less than 2 minutes, bummer. The Magrudergrind side is awesome, as always. Typical early MG sounding songs, grindviolence-powermosh-fastcore goodness. The song "Spicy Delight" is a real treat, silly lyrics that make me hungry.
The first press had an orange varient, but I can't find one of those without having to dish out a lot of money. I got this for 6.50, which is a fucking steal when it comes to this record. I'm happy!!
To Live a Lie #1 baby!!!!!
Last thing I'll talk about is this insert, which I had no idea came with this record. It's a small poster, and it is amazing. I want this on a shirt, I really really really want this on a shirt. Someone please tell me that is a real thing. So much love for this record!!!
